Mr. Game & Watch, often abbreviated as Mr. G&W and known as Game & Watch (or sometimes Hideo) in Japan, is the mascot of the Game & Watch series along with being Nintendo's oldest character. In the Game & Watch series he was unnamed as he did not get his name until 2001, when Super Smash Bros. Melee was released.

Game & Watch series[]

In the Game & Watch series Mr. Game & Watch has appeared in many games, but some feature different characters or similar characters that go under different names. The first game he appeared in was Ball, where he is sometimes called "Juggler"[1][2] and the last was Gold Cliff.

Super Smash Bros.[]

Super Smash Bros. Melee[]

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mr. Game & Watch could only be unlocked by unlocking all the other 24 characters and then beating him in a fight on the stage Flat Zone. All of his moves were based off of past games.[3] In competetive play, he is rather low, ranking #22 on the tier list.[4][5]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mr. Game & Watch played a important role in the Subspace Emissary as Tabuu found a substance known as shadow bugs inside Mr. Game & Watch and used them the Subspace Emissary. It is said that Mr. Game & Watch agreed to this because he had no concept of good and evil.

As with his appearence in Melee, his moves are based from past games. He is buffed and ranks #16 on the tier list.[4][5]
