Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a fighting game, for the Wii, that features a wide variety of Nintendo characters as well as some third-party characters. It is the third game in the series. Unlike the other installments, however, this is the first to have 2 third party characters, those being Sonic the Hedgehog and Metal Gear's Solid Snake. The total number of playable characters in Brawl is 35, 9 more than in Melee.

The game requires 128 free blocks of memory in the Wii System Memory. No data, except some vault data, can be copied to an SD Card or transferred onto another Wii. If the player does not create a save file when they start, he or she will not be able to play via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and vault data will not be saved.

The game features Mr. Game and Watch as an unlockable playable character and a stage to honor him, Flat Zone 2. Mr. Game and Watch also has his own trophy and Final Smash trophy, Octopus.

Adventure Mode: The Subspace EmissaryEdit

In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary Mr. Game and Watch embodies a limitless supply of Shadow Bugs inside of him, which can be extracted incessantly. Shadow Bugs are a substance which can replicate characters or even create new dark creatures. Tabuu, the leader of the Subspace Army, discovered this and captured Mr. Game & Watch in the prologue, using the Shadow Bugs to build the Subspace Army.
